Velenjak neighborhood (Also Called Roof of Tehran) is located in the Shemiran area in the northernmost part of Tehran, on the slopes of the Alborz mountain range. It is known for its landscapes, mild climate, mountain air, springs, and wildlife and is one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Tehran. Velenjak is located adjacent to the Tochal Complex, a ski resort area with a gondola lift up to Mount Tochal. Tochal is one of biggest tourist destinations in Alborz Mountain adjacent to Velenjak. People walk up Tochal during the night time, it has many restaurants and coffee shops, with views of the city from the top.
Tochal Telecabin is one of the world’s longest gondola lift lines, with a length of 7500 m. The project started in 1974 and has been open to the public since 1978. It starts at the Velenjak Valley, north of Tehran, at an altitude of 1900 m, and ends at the last station at an altitude of 3740 m, near the main ridge of Mount Tochal. The gondola lift is used to access ski resorts and other recreational centres on the mountain. A beautiful landscape, the mountain’s fresh air and a multitude of fresh water springs add to the freshness of the area. The upgraded safety standards of the lines allow families and athletes to enjoy the ride and the other facilities.
Velenjak is houses a large number of foreign residents. Many embassies are located in Velenjak. Shahid Beheshti University and Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, are also located in this area.

In addition, it has good access to Tajrish neighborhood.
